Autumn 2014 - Nourishing the Inner Life
A warm welcome to the Autumn issue of New Vision. I hope you find plenty of mellow fruits to nourish you and your friends. What a wonderful, sizzling hot summer we have had and now, re-energised by all that sunlight and warmth, we can shine through the Autumn and dark Winter nights.
Summer 2014 - Towards our Centre and Source
A warm welcome to the Summer issue of New Vision. I hope you find some sunshine to warm you in these pages and that New Vision continues to open windows for you. When mulling over the theme of this issue ~ Living Courageously ~ it struck me that it was actually St George's Day. How appropriate I thought. By 'chance' I began the day at a St George's Day Parade in the picturesque old fishing village of Emsworth, just a few miles from Bosham. Each year the village welcomes troops from the 47th Royal Artillery Regiment, who join veterans and children for a stirring parade through the village accompanied by the regimental band.
Spring 2014 - Know Thy Self
This ground-breaking issue explores this important Socratic injunction. Martha Lyn asks, 'Who Am I?' Noel Raine considers the 'self' that we are aware of as parents, siblings, students, employees etc and the Greater Self. Victoria Willson reminds us of the Confucian teaching that 'Whoever knows essentially his own nature can know also that of other men…' Ted Eames and others continue to explore gender specific words, Rosalind Smith considers Mindfulness and Alzheimer's and we receive an update about the Tigers of Bhutan. If this isn't enough to tempt you, James Ashby asks, 'Can the Church grow to Deeper Christianity?
Winter 2013 - Gratitude
I hope you will find plenty in this issue to warm you over the Winter months. If you are not feeling grateful by the time you have reached page 28, we will have failed!
Several writers - Jan Walker, Astra Ferro, Michael Lewin (two of our regular contributers), Deborah Parris and several others have produced meaningful articles on the theme of gratitude. Plus readers' letters, book reviews, and some of our regular topics.
Autumn 2013 - Freedom
The closer we become to the centre of anything ~ whether it be a person, a family or an organisation, the more clearly we see. Fish have the freedom of the seas, birds have the freedom of the skies but as humans we have the unique privilege of enjoying the freedom of fire ~ the domain of creative thought and intuition.
Summer 2013 - Change Your Thinking
The closer we become to the centre of anything ~ whether it be a person, a family or an organisation, the more clearly we see. If that is true for all these, it is certainly true of ourselves! It is worth reflecting that if the Divine is the centre of all real things, then when we approach the centre of anything we come closer to 'Him' ~ the Centre in which all centres are rooted. This can be mystically understood by remembering that 'God is an infinite sphere, the centre of which is everywhere, the circumference nowhere.'
Spring 2013 - The New Life
What is the New Life? We can look at it as the 'second birth', the awakening of the soul to its innate divinity. It was the Master Jesus who said: 'And no man putteth new wine into old bottles else the new wine dost burst the bottles and the wine is spilled and the bottles will be marred: but the new wine must be put into new bottles.' By many the end of the Mayan Calendar in 2012 was seen as the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new one. Many civilizations have recognised Great Ages or cycles of time. The Greeks recognised a Golden, Silver, Bronze and Iron Age. The Hindus too recognise equivalent periods of time called 'Yugas'. Each can be seen as an unfolding of consciousness.
Nov - Dec 2012 - Forgiveness
HT Hamblin's reflections on forgiveness
Sept - Oct 2012 - The Divine Plan
HT Hamblin's The Divine Plan
July - Aug 2012 - Divine Purity
May - June 2012 - Prayer
In prayer we endeavour to realise the perfection of the Divine Order, the Wholeness, Completeness, Beauty and Joy of the Perfect World of Order which is God's Idea in harmonious expression; in other words, the Reality, from which we have fallen short. This is the Kingdom of the Spirit, or Christ, to which we ally ourselves and with which we become identified through aspiration and meditation.
March - April 2012 - Prosperity
Every thought that you have impacts you. By shifting from a thought that weakens to one that strengthens, you raise your energy vibration and strengthen yourself and the immediate energy field
